About Us

Tour de Cure raises vital funds to support researchers, surgeons and clinicians who dedicate their lives to finding a cure for cancer.

Together with our partners, we create challenging events that inspire you to get fit and healthy, while raising money to fund vital cancer research projects that will have the biggest impact on curing cancer.

From humble beginnings in 2007, the Tour de Cure community has grown to become a national movement of thousands of people who are walking, running, riding and swimming to raise awareness and inspire support in the fight to cure cancer.  Tour de Cure works tirelessly to create a cancer-free future. The generosity of our supporters has enabled us to fund over 823 cancer projects and we’re proud to have contributed to 139 scientific cancer breakthroughs.

Woolies Wheels & Walks 2024 will be the seventh Event Tour de Cure and Woolworths Group have partnered on, raising a total of $6M together for cancer projects, including supporting PanKind, and The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

Pankind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation formerly known as the Avner Foundation, was created in memory of Avner Nahmani, a former Woolworths team member who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2008. In the months prior to his passing, Avner had a dream to see future patients face better outcomes and this led to the establishment of the Avner Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, with a goal to raise $1M. With the support of Woolworths then-CEO Grant O’Brien, this was achieved in less than two years, with the Foundation being formed in 2010 to carry on this important work, with the continued support of Woolworths Group and its valued partners.

In 2023, Woolworths Group raised over $1.5 million for Tour de Cure and PanKind grant projects. In 2024, Woolworths Group will once again partner with Tour de Cure to help raise vital funds for cancer research, support and prevention initiatives.
