The Ride

3 days of riding from Port Stephens to Bella Vista 

3-Day Ride: Departing Sydney 11 May, riding 12-14 May 2024

Registrations close 8 March 2024

The Event will start on Day 0, Saturday 11 May where you will be bussed from Bella Vista to Port Stephens (or you can make your own way to Port Stephens).

You will ride on Day 1, Sunday 12 May from Port Stephens to Hunter Valley, arriving into Bella Vista on Day 3, Tuesday 14 May.

How far is the ride?

The 3-day ride is 330km with 870-1260m elevation. For those wanting to really push themselves, there is a challenge option which covers 421km and 1290-1980m elevation. 

  • Day 1: Port Stephens to Hunter Valley. 111.7km and 869m elevation. Challenge Ride: 143.1km and 1325m

  • Day 2: Hunter Valley to Wyong. 111.5km and 926m. Challenge Ride: 144.1km and 1287m

  • Day 3: Wyong to Bella Vista. 106.1km and 1257m. Challenge Ride: 134km and 1965m

Please note that the distance and elevation may vary subject to final route and peloton allocation.

Fundraising & Registration Fee

  • The fundraising target for each 3-Day Rider is $2,500 plus a $650 Registration Fee

    • Final registration closes March 8, 2024

    • New Riders to the Woolies Wheels program will need to be registered by 16 February 2024 to ensure Rider readiness (Riders are to complete mandatory requirements, rides and fitness assessments and be assessed by a TDC ride leader).

  • The fundraising target for Support Crew is $700 plus a $200 registration fee.

You will be required to pay your registration fee at the final step of the registration process. The registration fee is NOT tax deductible.

You’ll watch the video and read the slides to hear all about a typical day on tour and introduce you to your support crew section leaders! Following this session, you will be sent your roles and online training modules.

Inclusions

3-Day Riders: Travel to the start of the ride, 3 nights share room accommodation, 2 sets of branded rider cycling kits, 2 evening shirts, all meals on Tour, peloton support vehicles.

Ride Support Crew: Travel to the start of the ride, 3 nights share room accommodation, shirt & cap, 2 evening shirts, all meals and transport.

Woolworths team members do not have to take annual leave to take part in the Event, Woolworths will provide you with the days as normal working days. This includes Woolworths & Big W store team members.

New Riders

Woolies Wheels is for all levels of riders. Providing you commit to regular training, Tour de Cure will work closely with you to make sure you have the skills and fitness you will need to take on Woolies Wheels 2024. 

  • 26 week training program, register and join us on training rides now! Minimum 12 weeks training for new riders.

  • Regular group training rides for all levels of rider. Posted weekly on Tour de Cure NSW Training Squad Strava Groups:
    ACT | NSW | QLD | SA | TAS | VIC | WA | TAS

  • You can join a ride from Bella Vista support office twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with an additional dedicated Sunday long ride. Not working out of Bella Vista? You can join ANY Tour de Cure rides across Sydney; rides take place throughout the week from various locations including Centennial Park, Northern Beaches, St Ives, and Neutral Bay and are posted on the NSW Strava group. Not in Sydney? No problem - Tour de Cure have rides in all states (excluding NT) as per the above Strava club links. Join and train from anywhere and come and join us on Tour in May!

  • You’ll be asked to log all your training rides on Strava to help Tour de Cure trainers provide focused coaching and make sure you get the most out of your Tour experience

  • As a new Rider, you’ll be assigned a buddy/mentor who will help you with your ride preparation

The Woolies Wheels and Walks Events couldn’t go ahead without our amazing Support Crew. If you are not a Rider but would still like to be part of this amazing Event, sign up to be a Support Crew team member. We need drivers, navigators, heavy lifters, baristas and lots more. Being part of the Support Crew is a rewarding and unforgettable experience!
